Not a very good day...

To say 3rd May 2018 was not a very good day for Conservatives in South Cambridgeshire is being realistic, for from having been in overall control of South Cambridgeshire District Council for 13 years, we are now in opposition to the Lib Dems.

As David Bard, who lost in Sawston (along with Kevin Cuffley) observed:

I can't say I’m sorry to be off in the circumstances.  It would be heart-breaking to sit there watching SCDC being slowly destroyed all over again.  I have been through that before – and then being faced with the prospect of clearing up the mess.  Good luck and I hope those of you who remain can prevent the worst excesses of Lib Demmery.

Why did we do so badly?  That will have to wait for the official report; but in the meantime, let us celebrate those councillors and candidates who did win:

Bunty Waters – Bar Hill
Ruth Betson – Cambourne
Shrobona Bhattacharya – Cambourne
Mark Howell – Caxton & Papworth
Nick Wright – Caxton & Papworth
Graham Cone – Fen Ditton & Fulbourn
Tom Bygott – Girton
Grenville Chamberlain – Hardwick
Sue Ellington – Swavesey
Heather Williams – The Mordens
Peter Topping – Whittlesford

Commiserations to all of our other 34 candidates who tried, willed, dreamed and wished.
