This month started in the north west of the constituency as I was invited to open the 60th Elsworth & District horticultural show.  My husband Phil and I enjoyed wandering around the stalls and seeing the impressive and sometimes misshapen(!) exhibits.

Meeting of minds in Cambourne

The Leader of South Cambridgeshire District Council, Cllr Peter Topping, met with Cambourne's new Parish Council Chairman Cllr Joseph O’Dwyer and Vice Chairman Cllr Ruth Poulton last Wednesday.

Ben goes to No 10

Ben Shelton, our Association Chairman, was invited to a reception with Teresa May, the Prime Minister, at 10 Downing Street yesterday, 21st September.

New mobile PO in Cambourne

A new weekly mobile post office service, parked in The Hub, Cambourne, started on 6th September – four years after the PO in Lloyds Pharmacy closed following the resignation of the postmaster and the withdrawal of the premises for post office use.

Education: Final funding formula announced

Heidi Allen, MP for South Cambridgeshire, writes:

On Thursday 14th September, the Secretary of State for Education, Justine Greening, made a statement in the House of Commons to announce the Department’s plans to introduce a national fairer funding formula for schools.

Health was on my agenda this month as I visited Addenbrooke’s to shadow the bed managers in the operations centre.  They have the challenging job of managing patient flow and beds across the whole hospital, 24 hours a day.
