Desert Island Discs with Andrew Lansley MP

Date: Friday, 09th September 2011

The event was a great success, report Denise Smith and Stephen Frost.  Over eighty people attended the Association’s Desert Island Discs event at the Cass Centre, Cambridgw, with Andrew Lansley CBE MP as the 'Robinson Crusoe' for the evening.

Seated in front of an ever changing picture of a desert island, Andrew was interviewed by the Rev. Dr. John Barrett.  Andrew’s choice of music was varied and his reasoning for each choice provided an entertaining view of his life from school, to university, to work and marriage and family.

Guests also enjoyed a delicious two course meal during the evening – as you can see from our photo.

Andrew’s choices of music were:

  1. Carmina Burana  by Carl Orff
  2. Saturday Night Fever by the Bee Gees
  3. I’m not in love by 10cc
  4. Variation on a theme by Purcell (arranged by Andrew Lloyd Webber)
  5. Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen
  6. Can’t help falling in love by Elvis Presley
  7. Candyman by Sammy Davis Jnr
  8. Gabriel’s Obe by Ennio Morricone
